This is a list of applications and utilities that I have used throughout the years. Its pretty much just a list of app's with links and descriptions - just so I don't forget them. I will update this with software I have used and liked or stumble across. I do plan on organizing it a bit as well down the road.

Awaken (link) - Awaken is a digital alarm clock and sleep timer that wakes you by playing music from your iTunes library. Setting An Alarm Couldn't Be Easier Choose a playlist, pick from either a weekly or specific date alarm, set the time, and enter a reminder note if you wish - and you're done. Desktop Manager (link) - Virtual desktop manager for the Mac. Please know this is currently in ALPHA. [free]
Desktopple (link) - Ever needed to take a screenshot and had to remove all of those icons from your Desktop before you do? Or maybe you needed to make a presentation and had to tidy up before hooking into the projector? If you did, then Desktopple is for you!With Desktopple, you can quickly and easily hide all of your Desktop clutter. A quick trip to your menu bar is all it takes. Desktopple is a Menu Bar item. Launch it, and it will hang out in your menu bar. Click it, and you'll get a list of all its options. Hand Brake (link) - Rips DVDs into a compressed format like DivX. A whole DVD (4.7GB) can be compressed into a 700MB file. [free]

Kip (link) - Organize the paper that clutters your life. Think of Kip as iPhoto for your documents. [free]
Letterbox (link) - Letterbox is a plugin for Apple's Mail.app that takes advantage of your widescreen monitor. It rearranges the interface into three vertical columns – so the message pane is to the right of the message list, rather than below. You'll probably need at least 1280 and perhaps 1440 horizontal pixels for this layout to work well for you. [free]
Little Snitch (link) - Little Snitch tells you when a program tries to send info to the internet so you can see what's going on in the background!. [$24.95+]
Mac The Ripper (link) - MacTheRipper is a free DVD ripper (extractor) for Mac OS X. It can extract commercial DVD movies to your hard drive, minus all the copy protections and region controls put in place by DVD publishers. You can then use various tools to burn the movie back to DVD-R for use in DVD players, or convert the movie to different formats for playback with a variety of devices. MacTheRipper is intended to backup DVDs you have legally purchased for personal use. Mac Stumbler (link) - MacStumbler is a utility to display information about nearby 802.11b and 802.11g wireless access points. It is mainly designed to be a tool to help find access points while traveling, or to diagnose wireless network problems. Additionally, MacStumbler can be used for "wardriving", which involves co-ordinating with a GPS unit while traveling around to help produce a map of all access points in a given area.. [free]
Maintenance 3.5 (link) - Handy little automator script that runs a series of system maintenance scripts via the Terminal: Repair Permissions, Verify Preference Files, Run Periodic and Update Prebindings.[free]

Pzizz (link) - Need to powernap, check Pzizz out... pzizz uses a complex mathematical formula, or ‘algorithm’, based on structured random selection. Todos (link) - Sometimes you just don't want to take time going to your Applications folder or searching around your hard drive. Just click a quick hotkey (Command-Option-Control-T) and Todos will simply appear. Todos' job is simple. Todos doesn't do more than it says. Like its definition in Spanish, Todos will show you everything. Todos shows you all your applications in a complete dock. All of us have a plethora of programs, and the Apple dock just can't fit them all. Don't worry. Bring Todos up when you need to get to any of your apps. xammp (link) - XAMPP is an easy to install Apache distribution containing MySQL, PHP and Perl. XAMPP is really very easy to install and to use - just download, extract and start. [free]
Windows Only Apps
Abiword (link) - Many people know about this tiny little word processor, but its other open source brother, Open Office, takes the spotlight too often. Abiword is very small and light, making it perfect for systems that can't handle the bloatedness of Open Office. Abiword is available for many operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and Mac.
Acronis True Image (link) - The complete disk imaging, system disk backup, and bare-metal restore solution for workstations.
Ad-Aware (link) - Ad-Aware is designed to provide advanced protection from known Data-mining, aggressive advertising, Parasites, Scumware, selected traditional Trojans, Dialers, Malware, Browser hijackers, and tracking components.
Alcohol 120% (link) - Best CD/DVD image emulation and burning software.
AlwaysBCC (link) - This MS Outlook add-in will perform either a BCC (blind carbon copy) or a CC (carbon copy) automatically, every time you email. Easily create a record of important emails automatically.
Audacity (link) - Freeware audio editor. [free]
BeamFile (link) - Easily send files up to 5 GB in size.
Belarc Advisor (link) - This handy tool will search a computer for installed software and license keys and generate results as a HTML file. It's handy for recovering lost software licenses and Windows license keys.
BSplayer (link) - Very good video player.
CamStudio (link) - CamStudio is a feature-full program that lets you record videos of applications on your computer. It's great for making demonstration videos and even lets you add screen captions, include yourself in the video, and convert the AVI files it generates into smaller SWF (flash) files!
CCleaner (link) - Privacy tool for Windows.
Circumventor (link) - This freeware will turn any Windows XP or 2000 PC with an Internet connection into a CGI proxy you can use at work to bypass web filters. Sure, regular web proxies will do the same thing, but isn't it cooler to have your own personal proxy that is ad free?
ClearType Tuner (link) - This PowerToy lets you use ClearType technology to make it easier to read text on your screen, and installs in the Control Panel for easy access.

ColorMania (link) - Colormania is an advanced color picker utility, especially created
for webdesigners, graphic artists and application developers.
It supports various color models and is able to pick colors
from anywhwere on your screen. Accuracy on pixel level is

Cropper (link) - A really cool screen capture utility that can easily & quickly grab parts of your screen. I highly recommend this one. [free]
Diskeeper (link) - Diskeeper 10 Professional Edition provides high-speed automatic defrag along with advanced settings and features that allow you to fine-tune its operation.
DVD Shrink (link) - DVD Shrink is software to backup DVD discs. You can use this software in conjunction with DVD burning software of your choice, to make a backup copy of any DVD video disc.
Edit Plus (link) - EditPlus is an Internet-ready 32-bit text editor, HTML editor and programmers editor for Windows. While it can serve as a good replacement for Notepad, it also offers many powerful features for Web page authors and programmers. [$30.00]
Eraser (link) - Eraser is a secure data removal tool.
EverNote (link) - Quickly create, organize and find any type of notes on an endless, digital roll or paper.
FileZilla (link) - FTP Client and Server. [free]
FlashPaste (link) - Flashpaste has two key features. The first is smart text insertion. While writing e-mails or creating documents, people frequently copy and paste the same words, phrases, greetings, e-mail addresses and URLs. This is especially true for those who provide technical support via e-mail, because most questions have been asked and answered numerous times before. Flashpaste is also a handy tool for web developers or web designers to easily copy and paste repeated strings of HTML code.
FolderSize (link) - older Size for Windows adds a new column to the Details view in Windows Explorer. The new column shows not only the size of files, but also the size of folders. It keeps track of which folders you view, and scans them in the background so you can see complete size of all files within the folder. It's very useful for cleaning up your disk. Once you get used to having that information available, a directory listing simply looks incomplete without it! [free]
FontExpert 2005 (link) - FontExpert 2005 enables you to preview and manage both installed and uninstalled typefaces, plus examine your system for font errors. You can display the list of installed font faces, customizable font samples and advanced font properties
Google Earth (link) - Offers maps and satellite images for complex or pinpointed regional searches. [free]
Hamachi(link) - Ultra Secure Network VNC app. Hamachi lets you create your own virtual network of computers without actually having to network them together. It basically creates a LAN with other computers over the Internet. Hamachi is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac. [free]
Hiren's BootCD (link) - A great boot disk to have.
IdealAdmin (link) - Simplifies considerably the administration of your Windows NT/XP/2000/2003 networks by integrating in a single tool the whole functionalities needed to manage users, servers and domains.
imTOO (link) - ImTOO DVD Ripper is a DVD converter which can convert DVD to VCD, DVD to DivX, DVD to MPEG, DVD to WMV, DVD to AVI, DVD to WMA, DVD to MP3 easily and quickly with excellent image and sound quality. It's the best DVD ripping software to convert DVD and rip it.
IrfanView (link) - Compact and fast image viewer and basic editor that works with most versions of Windows. It offers features that will please both novice users and geeks, including support for just about any file format out there, mutli language support, playing multimedia files, cutting and cropping, basic photo enhancement options, and more. ISO Recorder (link) - ISO Recorder is a light weight power toy for Windows XP, Server 2003, and Vista that let lets you easily mount ISO images to CDs and DVDs. With ISO recorder, mounting an ISO file is as easy as right clicking and choosing "Copy image to CD." A 64-bit version of this program is available.
KeePass (link) - Secure Password manager. [free]

Log Parser (link) - Log parser is a powerful, versatile tool that provides universal query access to text-based data such as log files, XML files and CSV files, as well as key data sources on the Windows operating system such as the Event Log, the Registry, the file system, and Active Directory.
Lookout (link) - Lookout is an extension to Microsoft Outlook for doing really fast searches. With Lookout installed, you can search the entire contents of your mailbox in less than a second. [free]
Magnifixer (link) - Magnifixer is a screen magnifier utility. You can place it anywhere on your screen, make it any size you want and select a zoom level. Magnifixer will always show the area of your screen where the mouse cursor resides.

Nero Burning Rom (link) - Excellent program for CD/DVD burning and more.

O&O Defrag (link) - Defragmentation utility.
Outpod (link) - Outpod is a program to do bulk exports of contact and calendar information from Microsoft Outlook to files according to the vCard and vCalendar standard.
Picasa (link) - Photo organizer/limited editor owned by google. [free]
Pixie (link) - Simple. Awesome. Color Picker. [free]
SamSpade (link) - Sam Spade for Windows is a freeware network query tool. [free]
Second Copy (link) - Backup software
Serv-U (link) - FTP Server.
SlickRun (link) - SlickRun is a free floating command line utility for Windows. SlickRun gives you almost instant access to any program or website. SlickRun allows you to create command aliases (known as MagicWords), so C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe becomes MAIL.
Snagit (link) - Advanced screen capture tool.
Spybot Search & Destroy (link) - Spyware prevention. [free]
SQL Prompt (link) - SQL Prompt provides Intellisense style auto-completion for Microsoft SQL Server editors. It will tell you the exact formatting you should use for your SQL commands, while you are writing them and will therefore help you write fast, perfectly formatted SQL statements. [free]
